If you often wonder where you put your crafting materials, this mod might be something for you. Of course it is already possible to sort your items into different chests and label them using signs, but that would require quite a lot of space. The mod lets you store items in a neatly organised way by using chests of drawers.
There are various types of drawers available. Each of them can be crafted by combining blocks of wood and chests. A nice touch is that the resulting chest of drawers represents the type of wood used, allowing you to make it fit in with the rest of your workshop, kitchen and so on. A chest can have either four or two drawers, of which the latter can hold more stacks of items. Besides the amount of drawers, there are two sizes as well. Full size takes up a full block of space, while half size uses only half the depth. You can craft the half size drawers by using slabs of wood instead of blocks. Stacked ontop of each other, they work well as wall mounted cupboards.
Besides various shapes and colours, there is even more customisation possible. For instance, these upgrades allow let you increase the amount of storage, lock the chests and enable status indicators. These indicators will tell you how much space there is still remaining. Another one worth mentioning is the so called compacting drawer. It is crafted using pistons, iron and stone. The piston powered drawer can be used for compressing materials into blocks, such as wheat and ingots.
Installation & Requirements
- Download and install Minecraft Forge.
- Download Storage Drawers from here.
- Locate your mods folder (%appdata%\Roaming\.minecraft\mods).
- Place the StorageDrawers-1.7.10-1.3.6.jar file in there.
- Enjoy your newly installed Forge mod!
If this is your first time using mods, or if you just do not want to install it manually, I would recommend getting the installer version of Forge. Simply running that installer is all you will have to do, it will automatically locate your Minecraft folder.
Using the included config file, which can be found in %appdata%\Roaming\.minecraft\config, you can change certain aspects of the mod to your liking. For example, you can configure the amount of stacks that each type of drawer can contain. Furthermore, it is possible to disable some of the upgrades and to change the multipliers of all upgrades. This multiplier will affect how much improvement each upgrade gives.
Storage Drawers could be a worthy addition to your game if you are looking for an easy way to sort your crafting materials and other items. It lets you craft labelled drawers that can hold stacks of items. While they work differently from regular chests, they are easy to fill and empty.
