2.3 changes, Engineering mount, Hallow's End and more

It's the Monday edition of blue recap; not only was there an announcement made today by Nethaera on the leveling improvements in 2.3, but there are also a number of blue posts about other various topics. The aforementioned thread also sparked a few interesting pieces of discussion. We've also updated the Patch 2.3 changes notes, so read on to check it all out, including a cool music video!

Heart of the Wild change in 2.3

Vaneras wrote:

This is indeed true... Heart of the Wild in cat form will be changed from 20% STR to 10% AP.

In addition there will be changes to Items that granted bonus attack power in Cat, Bear, Dire Bear, and Moonkin forms. These items have been re-evaluated and in almost all cases, the attack power on the item has been increased. This change corrects an issue where feral weapon damage was not keeping up with other classes in its rate of increase.

Disarm will be subject to diminishing returns in PvP

Salthem wrote:

We're also making sure that Disarm will suffer diminishing returns in PvP now. I'm sure some warriors will think that's a good thing and some a bad thing.

I conclude that it's a thing.

Low-level instances aren't the only ones being changed

Bornakk wrote:

If Shadowfang Keep was the only instance that was having the level range adjusted, I could understand this, but with pretty much all of the leveling dungeons in Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor having this happen, it works out.

With the changes in patch 2.3, players won’t have to put off Razorfen Kraul, Blackfathom Deep, The Stockade, or Gnomeregan for later levels as they will be able to go through them throughout their 20s and roll into their 30's where Scarlet Monastery, Razorfen Downs, and Uldaman await to take people into the 40's and so on.

Don't forget all the hard work from the Steamwheedle Cartel in Dustwallow Marsh which will give a big boost for the level 30 range too!

Blackrock Depths is being changed as well

Bornakk wrote:

I said "and so on" because others are being changed. Blackrock Depths is getting improved as well. I recommend checking it out the PTRs when they are available for patch 2.3.

Bornakk hints at what the Engineering flying mount will be

Bornakk wrote:

It's a Mechanostrider or Shredder Machine, with a 2 second parachute, and it just jumps really high!

Actually, a Flying Machine sounds a lot better, and safer, hmmm...

Dustwallow Marsh changes are for both factions

Bornakk wrote:

The update on Dustwallow is the main zone being changed but it affects both the Alliance and the Horde. All these extra quests should make it easier to not have to do high level 30/low level 40 quests too soon, so instead you can stack these up and use them to catapult you into your 30s.

Cost of Elite Flying and the new Cenarion Expedition mount

Bornakk wrote:

We are planning to make it a 280% speed mount, so it will require 300 riding skill just like the other epic flying mounts.

And yes, we have no current plans to lower the cost of 5000 gold to get 300 riding skill before the expansion though this may be revaluated at some point in the future like when a new riding skill tier is implemented.

Death Knights are only for males?

Poster asks about Lady Blaumeux being the only known female Death Knight.

Bornakk wrote:

We have no plans to make limitations based on gender. Female Death Knights will be fighting, casting, and raising the dead just as well as male ones.

Hallow's End Mount

Not really new information, but Drysc provides some on the Hallow's End Broom mount.

Drysc wrote:

We do have the broom mounts for Hallow's End this year. Some people got to see them on the PTRs, they're pretty wicked. The tooltip on them is wrong however, they are not one use only, they do have a 14 day duration though.

I highly recommend checking out the additions when it begins in your nearest "starter" town, the Headless Horseman attacks and ultimate battle with him in Scarlet Monastery graveyard are a lot of fun, easily puggable at 70, and he drops phat purples.

Death Knights on new servers?

So when you unluck the Death Knight for the first time it's account wide. Meaning you only have to do it once on your entire account to get a Death Knight on any server or faction. My question is, when Blizzard releases new servers wouldn't that be unfair since the Death Knight will start out at a higher level?

Nethaera wrote:

I think this is one of those situations where we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

And a bit of humor from Bornakk:

Death Knight call being added to Nefarion encounter?

Bornakk wrote:

I’m guessing we will add this, but it’s a bit early to know for sure, would it be better if having DKs present turned it into a party instead?

So what do you think? Nefarion call or party?

Finally, we have a great video for you today. It's the music video I'm So Sick by BaronSoosdon. Be sure to click through on the title of the video and rate it!
