    Hey all!

    Normally, I would be happy to let this deprecated version of the addon just drift on in perpetuity, allowing anyone who is scared of the number 2 to avoid installing WeakAuras 2.

    However, in light of the malicious custom scripts for WeakAuras that have been floating around the internet lately, it's safer for you, the end user, if we force you to update from version 1.x. Various changes to prevent people from importing nasty untrustworthy WeakAuras scripts, and to prevent custom scripts from doing nasty things in the first place, are being added to WeakAuras 2. That's why the latest update of WeakAuras 1.x simply disables the addon.

    None of your data is deleted, and WeakAuras 2 has the same codebase and developers as the 1.x branch. Updating to version 2 is a completely painless process; just download it, put it in your Addons folder, and everything will work perfectly.

     

    So please stop sending me hatemail PMs about how I deleted your saved displays or how I killed WeakAuras or whatever :(

    I've been hearing about this kind of problem for a long time, but I've never experienced it myself, nor do I have not any inkling of what could be causing it or how to try to reproduce the behavior. I can only imagine it is, as they're telling you, an issue with Curse Client, and nothing in my code. I certainly never wrote any functions designed to delete all your displays! Sorry I can't be of more assistance, and that you have to remake all your displays :(

    There's not a quick fix for this. It would be possible for me to create some sort of system where groups of displays could be automatically broken into several strings, or perhaps the displays compressed separately and then combined into one string afterwards. However, that would be a complicated undertaking, and might break import/export of displays from previous versions in the process, which I think would not really be worth it. Anyway, I made a bug ticket for this just so I don't forget about it, but I probably will not address it anytime soon.

    This is almost certainly a case of AceSerializer not serializing the square brackets correctly. If that is the case, it's probably more trouble than it's worth to fix, since I'd have to make up a wacky work-around instead of being able to fix the offending code itself (since AceSerializer is a library).

    Edit: I just tried importing a display with square brackets in its name, and it worked just fine. So I dunno what I can do to help you >.>

    For the sounds issue, you should be able to check Enable Sound but then uncheck everything else, and then only addon-defined sounds will play. Make sure to set your sound to play on the Master channel in WeakAuras. (After having typed this, I realize grosbouba already said this exact thing -.-)

    For not displaying text... just put a space.

    It seems that unneeded clones (expired auras) from your Show All Matches are not being removed properly. I've experienced this kind of thing before on occasion, but it is a difficult bug to reproduce, and therefore difficult to fix. If you can get it to happen consistently, please outline how to do so in a bug ticket on the WoWAce project page; it would help me immensely.

    For anyone currently doing Malkorok in Siege of Orgrimmar:

    Trigger Type: Aura

    Use Full Scan (High CPU)

    Aura Name: Contains "Ancient Barrier"

    <...>

    Use tooltip "size" instead of stacks

    This, along with a display type that shows stacks (e.g., a Text display set to "%s"), should allow you to easily track the exact size of your absorbtion shield on Malkorok's Anicent Miasma phase.  I haven't had the opportunity to test it yet, but it should work in theory. Also, the latest development release (available on the WoWAce project page) allows you to use Specific Unit (e.g., "raid1", "raid2") with Full Scan auras such as this.
