About KuiNameplates

Prettier, pixel-perfect nameplates with auras.
Configurable through interface options (/knp or /kuinameplates).

Known issues, among other things, are tracked here.
If you're so inclined, please submit any bugs you find or ideas for enhancements to github.

I try to answer all the questions I can, so feel free to ask in the comments,
but read the FAQ below first!

You can use KuiSpellListConfig to customise the whitelist used by the Auras module.

Kui_Nameplates_Custom is a template module which can be used to modify the Core layout, if you know lua (or if you want to use one of the examples).

Frequently Asked Questions

Only the nameplate of my target shows up!
That's because of Blizzard's new option under Esc > Interface > Names > "Always show nameplates".

Some nameplates still aren't showing up!
They're probably disabled. Blizzard, for some reason, decided to remove the checkboxes for this, so try using the keybinds: V, Ctrl+V and Shift+V by default. These are provided by the default UI.

Kui_Nameplates_Extras, _Auras and other old external modifications will need to be disabled!
Otherwise they'll give you lots of errors. _Auras is now included in the base addon. I'm working on updating _Extras.

Why is there a nameplate under my character?
It's Blizzard's new option to show a personal nameplate. Here's how to disable it. It only shows while you're in combat, or when you otherwise receive damage or healing. Addons can't change this behaviour.

How can I stop nameplates from clamping to the screen?
Use Ketho's NameplateRange (or the script provided on that page). This will also stop the nameplates of large enemies from staying on screen, because that's what clamping is.

Nameplates keep disappearing after I enter/leave combat!
Set the "combat action" drop-downs at the top of /knp > general to "do nothing". If that doesn't fix it, make sure "always show nameplates" is checked (see the first FAQ item). If it still happens, then another addon is doing it.

Why don't enemy players in cities have nameplates?
The game doesn't render nameplates for unattackable enemy players. Addons can't change this.

Legion

Legion introduced huge changes for nameplates and nameplate addons. As such, I took the opportunity to focus on my rewrite which I'd been doing on the side for a while. This means a few things for you.

  • Configuration, including profiles, has been reset as I no longer use Ace3 to provide it.
  • Some options have been removed, changed, or aren't currently available (I still have more work to do).
  • External addons which modify KuiNameplates will need to be rewritten.
  • Neither KuiNameplates-Custom or KuiNameplates-Extras have been updated yet, but they will be.
  • Changing options and profiles doesn't require a UI reload anymore.
